Donations by GHS Alumni and Classes Fund Spirit of Geneva Scholarship
The Spirit of Geneva Scholarship, an award founded by the Geneva High School Class of 1963, is funded entirely by donations offered by graduating classes and GHS alumni who value their high school and community experience and want to pay forward the unique sense of Geneva Spirit many they say they cherish. The scholarship is administered by Geneva Academic Boosters Club. "This scholarship was established to recognize and support students who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and who exemplify the Geneva Spirit, which may be interpreted to mean a love of the high school, the community of Geneva, and the feeling that growing up in this community has had a positive effect on his/her life," Jayne Hurst Geneva of the Class of '63 said. Geneva explained that the scholarship fund was specifically created so that anyone from any Geneva class, pre-consolidation Spencer or Austinburg class, or anyone with ties of any kind to Geneva could make a contribution to the fund in memory of a graduate or simply to help GHS grads defray tuition expenses as they pursue advanced education. "After their 55th reunion last summer, the Class of 1962 added a contribution to the scholarship fund and a 1963 classmate transferred a scholarship in memory of his dad, a long time Geneva coach, to the Spirit of Geneva fund. We hope that other alumni and friends will get involved and this scholarship will continue for many years," Geneva said. For information about the Spirit of Geneva Scholarship and details about the ways to contribute to the fund, call/text Geneva Academic Boosters Club at 440-290-9392 or email info@GenevaABC.com. |
